Full-Time Florist

Reports to Lead Florist and Event Manager

Start date: January 2025

Overview: At Junebug, we believe in the power of flowers to brighten lives and bring joy to our community. For this full-time position, we’re looking for a passionate, team-oriented, and creative florist with a love of bright and cheery blooms. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Design retail flowers for pick up and delivery orders
  • Process flowers each day as they come in from wholesalers (involves lifting, bending, squatting, and using florist shears)
  • Purchase flowers at the New England Flower Exchange, as needed
  • Take floral orders in person and over the phone with excellent customer service
  • Deliver flowers within Charlestown in the Junebug van
  • Assist with floral event design, installation, and take down (weddings, corporate events, etc)
  • Welcome customers into the shop and assist them with purchases
  • Check out customers using retail POS system
  • Care for plants according to watering schedules (involves climbing a ladder)
  • Open and close the store according to shop procedures
  • Assist the Lead Florist in teaching floral workshops
  • Break down trash and recycling

 

Candidate Requirements

  • 2+ years experience of hands-on floral design in an event studio or high volume retail location
  • Proficiency making bouquets, arrangements, and large floral installations
  • Experience with a variety of floral mechanics (chicken wire, floral foam, floral tape, wire, etc)
  • Weekend and major holiday availability
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Energetic self-starter who is not afraid to ask questions
  • Comfortable standing all day, carrying heavy flowers and buckets, and lifting up to 30 pounds
  • Must have a driver's license and your own vehicle
